| Invitation sent by the partners from France that are organizing
the encounter. Dear (ace) colleagues, dear (ace) partners (ace). This invitation goes to all the union organizations of the branch elevators in the world and it concerns an original initiative: An international encounter of the workers of the elevators. This encounter is prepared by the representatives of different unions and he/she registers in the continuation of the European encounter of Florence 1994, and of the world encounter of the workers of OTIS that took place in Mexico in March of 2000, in which the salary earners of other companies of the branch participated. A Letter international reivindicativa was elaborated during the encounter of Mexico and he/she decided to continue these encounters with other associating all the French union organizations and foreigners in Paris. This encounter will be carried out of Monday 15 a Friday October 19 2001 In Saint - Denis (93) The branch elevators represents in France 15 000 direct employments, and it generates 45 000 at national level, 100 000 in Europe and 400 000 in the world. The industry of the elevators and mechanical stairways for their high technology, its important weight in the economic and social is in the center of what is played. The necessities of the countries, of the populations in what affects the housing, the maintenance, the security in the transport of the users and of the goods, he/she needs an investigation effort and development of this industry. In the same time, we have in our respective countries that to face with the employer strategies of restructurings, of concentration, in deslocalización, of setting in the salary earners' competition in the world, with political of reduction of the costs of personal, with more and more precarious work conditions on behalf of the competitiveness, of the economic war that opposes the big companies. In front of these disastrous strategies for the employment, the durable development and the security, the syndicalism has the responsibility of meditating to elaborate common replicas, to build international initiatives, to propose alternative answers to the dominant logic. We need to reinforce the exchanges of information at international level. It is necessary to advance toward collective guarantees and a common social statute in the industry of the elevators. We have to develop cooperations that allow more social and industrial effectiveness at international level. It is necessary to prepare the future from now on. All these questions will occupy our initiative of October of 2001, and for that reason, dear (ace) colleagues, dear (ace) partners (ace), we have your active participation.
